Desalination of water

Desalination of water

One cubic mile of seawater contains about 40 million minerals, total dissolved solids (TDS) - cations are calcium, magnesium, sodium and potassium, and anions of: carbonates, bicarbonates, chlorides, sulfates and nitrates - which increase the electrical conductivity of water and corrosion, and give unacceptable taste (acceptability certain drinking water is determined by the level of total dissolved solids in water)

The process of membrane desalination of water - during the separation of two liquids of different concentrations (e.g., pure water without salts, and saline solution) through a semi-permeable membrane the solvent (water) and not the failure of dissolved minerals, then passes through the membrane only clean water in the salt solution.

The salt solution is diluted, and the volume of salt solution increases and its level rises above the level of pure water, and therefore there is a difference in pressure, which is called osmotic pressure.

CWG Group offers systems for desalination:

  • SEA WATER (from 35 to 45,000 ppm NaCl)
  • Brackish water (from 3,500 to 15,000 ppm NaCl)
